Bob Gibson
Artist / Musician

Bob Gibson became one of the pillars of the national folk music scene as well as the Chicago scene starting in the late 1950s. His appearances on TV shows such as Hootenanny gave folk music a wide audience and he was partially responsible for the folk music boom of the early 1960s. His collaborations with British born Hamilton Camp and their performances at the Gate of Horn folk club were legendary. One of Bob’s most famous songs was “Abilene”, covered by many recording artists.

The museum suffered damage as the result of a microburst in downtown Joliet. The building did sustain some damage however we are extremely grateful that no one was injured during this tragedy.

We are fortunate that Gigantar, our exhibit artifacts and the gift shop merchandise all escaped any damage.

We are temporarily closed to the public as we work with our contractors through the cleanup process.
Please stay tuned as we get back in the groove.
