Fred Holstein
Artist / Musician

Fred Holstein was one of the mainstays of the Chicago Folk Music scene throughout the 1970s. He and his brother Ed co-owned the folk club Somebody Else’s Troubles along with Steve Goodman, Earl Pionke and Bill Redhed. Fred and Ed eventually opened their own club called, appropriately enough- Holsteins. Fred had a very gentle approach to his performances and as one fan told me “He just made you feel all warm inside”.

The museum suffered damage as the result of a microburst in downtown Joliet. The building did sustain some damage however we are extremely grateful that no one was injured during this tragedy.

We are fortunate that Gigantar, our exhibit artifacts and the gift shop merchandise all escaped any damage.

We are temporarily closed to the public as we work with our contractors through the cleanup process.
Please stay tuned as we get back in the groove.
