Thrust was formed in 1980 in the north suburbs of Chicago. They Built a large following in the local Chicago Metal scene playing covers and originals and released the live split LP Solidarnosc Rock for Poland on Erect Records in 1982. They released two demo tapes in 1983 and in 1984 the band moved to Los Angeles and signed with Metal Blade records. They
released one album on Metal Blade fist held high in October of 1984. Soon afterward Thrust disbanded and they moved back to Chicago with Guitarist Ron Cooke staying in California. After a long hiatus Ron Cooke reformed Thrust on the west coast with a new line up. Today Ron Cooke’s version of Thrust still releases albums and tours the World. They are very influential in The New Wave Of American Thrash Metal genre.
